Integrus Architecture proudly sponsors the A Gallery located next to our Seattle office in historic Occidental Park.

The current exhibit, Design IN the Square shares the design process and showcases the prototyping tool/kit-of-parts.

Design IN the Square is an experiment and spatial prototyping tool for the public intended to explore new ways of empowering a user within the modern architectural design process.

As a response to the 2017 Seattle Design Festival Theme: POWER, Design IN the Square draws inspiration from 2016’s Map the Square project in which the public took to the neighborhood to tag areas in Pioneer Square they felt deserved a public intervention. Design IN the Square wants to allow the public to create the intervention they’ve asked for. By providing users with a kit-of-parts that takes advantage of a grid system, this modular architecture replaces the permanence of screws and nails and allows exploration through continuous chance. Design IN the Square puts the power into the hands of the user to think spatially without the training of an architect, and to build without the professional tools of a contractor, injecting more public autonomy into the process of architectural civic design.

The Gallery is open Monday through Friday 8am – 5pm for public viewing.

Design IN the Square will be available for viewing through October 27, 2017.

Opening Reception: Thursday, September 7, 2017 6PM – 8PM – Part of the Pioneer Square First Thursday Art Walk.
